Brett Lucas
Biographical Notes:
Mr. Lucas attended the University of Virginia on a full golf scholarship where he was named golf team captain and received the Dixon Brooke award for leadership. After playing golf professionally, Mr. Lucas attended Florida State University College of Law and graduated in 1989 with Honors.
Mr. Lucas spent the first part of his career as a civil trial attorney where he gained extensive experience representing both Defendants and Plaintiffs in a broad range of complex cases including: Medical Malpractice, Professional Liability, Nursing Home claims, Products Liability, and Bad Faith actions. His ability as a civil trial attorney gained national attention in 2002 when he successfully defended the team physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars who was sued by a former player for medical malpractice.
Mr. Lucas holds an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell, reflecting the highest distinction available for legal ability and adherence to professional ethical standards. For the past several years, Mr. Lucas has specialized in and limited his practice to mediation. He is a state and federal court certified mediator and has mediated over 4,000 cases throughout the state of Florida involving multiple areas of civil law including: Medical Malpractice, Product Liability, Premises Liability, Nursing Home, Auto and Trucking Accidents, Bad Faith, Employment Discrimination, and Maritime & Admiralty claims.
